The following members met at the usual place in the Boone Tavern Basement: President Bruce Klaus, George Gale, David Gray, Joe Hayes, Andy Kassel, Everett Lindell, Thad McCanse and Scott Priesmeyer. Also present was a representative from Headquarters, Adam Peterson (Beta Iota, Oregon, '05) and Xi Xi pledges Adam Boisclair, Alan Simpson, and James Thompson.
The meeting started with a discussion of the absence of Brother Bear. Brother Gale, who looks after such things, said he did remind him several days ago. (It turned out that Bear just plain forgot, but also had a conflict. He is never short of excuses.) The pledges were introduced and welcomed.
Brother Gray noted that there will be an all Missouri Province retreat on April 22nd. The 150th Anniversary edition of the Norman Shield was brought to the attention of all. Also something called Winners Never Cheat received our sincere approval.
Brother Gale mentioned that we could expect a visit from Headquarters at the end of August or beginning of September. The main discussion was in regard to a meeting at room 234 of Brady Commons on April 29, and a recruiting session by the pledges there on April 30, and possibly April 31. Alumni were asked to attend. It is to be an informational event. Methods of recruiting were discussed.
President Klaus announced that we had maybe $500 in the treasury, of which $120 is earmarked. There was a discussion about posters for the meetings. Brother Gale moved that we spend $125 for said expenses. The motion passed. It was also noted that Westminster had a good Initiation on March 12th, and the House Corporation donates to summer workshops.
Alan Simpson, President of the pledge class, expressed regrets that there is no house available, which means there is no way to really get to know each other or experience bonding. This issue will remain one of our major challenges.
Respectfully Submitted,
