CENTRAL MISSOURI SIGMA CHI ALUMNI CHAPTER

Minutes of Phantom Meeting of August 9, 2007

Due to the inherent unreliability of Internet notification, not all the brothers were aware that President Klaus had unilaterally cancelled the August meeting.  However, ini order that recent significant events not be forgotten or overlooked, it was decided that these minutes would record what would have taken place at that meeting.

The first order of business was the grave concern of the brothers after our beloved President Klaus indicated he wanted to step down.  To stop such nonsense, it was moved that Bruce Klaus be made President for Life of the Central Missouri Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter.  The motion was seconded and carried unanimously.

In the same spirit, it was moved that Brother George Gale be named Xi Xi's man of the 21st Century for his monumental efforts in reviving that chapter.  Again the nomination was seconded and carried unanimously.  It was then moved that we all contribute a substantial amount for a suitable trophy for Brother Gale.  That motion failed for want of a second.

There was an extended discussion of the glorious days of Initiation Week and the reinstatement of Xi Xi Chapter.  Brother McCanse remarked that he thought at age 26 he had been Xi Xi Chapter's oldest pledge.  However, brother Reno at age 82 seems to have retired that honor forever.  Actually, the ceremony was unforgettable, with some 1500 Sigma Chi's present.  Prior to that the handsomely framed photograph of our initial chapter, including founder Benjamin Piatt Runkle, was veiled and unveiled numerous times, some by our Grand Consul Brother Bob Jones.  There was some failure of a meeting of the minds between Brother Gale and Brother Andy McCanse as to what should be veiled and what shouldn't.  Due to the efforts of Trudy McCanse the matter was resolved peacefully.

It was noticed that Brother Bear had not been seen around the house during the various ceremonies, even though a bar had been set up by special dispensation.  It was felt that perhaps his achievements had not been suitably recognized.  To make amends it was decided to send him a "We Couldn't Have Done it Without You" card.

Some worried that without the reinstallation efforts to talk about future meetings might be too short.  But we are in good hands with President Klaus, so not to worry.

There being bo further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
Thad C. McCanse
