Twenty Eight Sigma Chi alumni members from a variety of chapters met for the organizational meeting of a Central Missouri Alumni Chapter at the former Xi Xi Chapter House on the campus of the University of Missouri at Columbia, Missouri on February 8, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. The meeting was convened by Bruce Klaus who had taken the initiative to contact Sigma Chi alumni living in Missouri and convince them to meet for the purpose of setting up a Central Missouri Sigma Chi Alumni organization.

As each person entered the meeting room they were asked to give their name, contact information, school, and graduation year to the organization for later use in setting up an alumni roster for the organization. An opening invocation was given by Wally Landrum. Each attendee then introduced themselves to the group and the business meeting began.

In accordance with Sigma Chi Fraternity By-Laws and Regulations governing Alumni Associations, Bruce agreed to act as the initial meeting’s moderator. The group made the following decisions by acclimation:

At the conclusion of the organizational meeting, Bruce Klaus, our new President, asked for an update on the circumstances surrounding the suspension of the University of Missouri Sigma Chi Chapter Xi Xi charter as an active chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. This report was provided by several Xi Xi alumni and active brothers including Jay Shields, Dave Bear, Andy McCanse, and others. After a series of questions and answers by several of the brothers present at the meeting, the Central Missouri Sigma Chi Alumni Association decided to support the Xi Xi chapter’s efforts to maintain it’s chapter house and offered whatever appropriate assistance the Xi Xi chapter might need in the future as it begins to plan to resume it’s place as an active undergraduate chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Wally Landrum then gave a closing prayer and the meeting was adjourned at approximately 2:45 p.m. after all of the assembled brothers joined hands in a circle and sang the “Sweetheart of Sigma Chi.”
