Most of the usual faithful gathered in the first floor level of the Boone Tavern for our regular bi-monthly, namely David Bear, George Gale, Andy Kassel, Bruce Klaus, Thad McCanse, and Eoghan Miller. Also present at the start were Julie Drury, Coordinator of Greek Life, and Janna Basler, Director of Greek Life. As it was Valentine's Day, four of the first five brothers to arrive voted for the Lovers' Special, Brother Gale dissenting.
It was announced that the Westminster chapter Initiation would occur March 10 at around 10AM. President Klaus reported that we had $490.85 in our treasury. We will be able to donate $175 to each of the three groups we have supported (Westminster, Rolla, and the MU Colony). It was also announced that 17 of the 28 members of the Colony have grade point averages of 3.0 or greater. Also, the Grand Chapter meeting will be held in San Jose, California and the Kappa chapter at Tampa will be installed July 23-25.
One of our Colony members has a scholarship as a member of the wheelchair basketball team. They are also trying to get along with the Pi Phis for Greek Week, with the outcome not encouraging.
Brother Gale announced that the Educational Fund will lend money for the start up of the housing at 500 College. Some brothers are trying to find ways to help finance the Chapter via grants rather than loans and also plan remodeling or construction so that the house may be occupied while work goes on. We hope to avoid members having to move in and then move out during construction.
There was a discussion about what plan we need before engaging an architect, and the hiring of a house mother. The estimated house bill, according to Brother Gale, is $6,600. Around this point the meeting adjourned. Those who were present are encouraged to add any items discussed that I may have overlooked when the approval of the minutes is moved at the next meeting.
Folowing adjournment President Klaus was heard to remark that while he encouraged verbiage, he was alarmed at a tendency for verbosity on the part of some brothers. The problem is: Which of us is without sin? Or is there a Sinner in Chief? Keep tuned.
Respectfully submitted,
