The usual motley crew gathered on the first floor of the Boone Tavern for our regular bi-monthly meeting. In attendance was George Gale, Joe Hayes, Andy Kassel, Bruce "Winston" Klaus, Thad McCanse, and Eoghan Miller. Brother McCanse quickly put forward a motion as to the who would be paying for lunch but his motion was denied yet again due to lack of quorum. Brother McCanse demanded a ruling on quorum. Newly elected President Kassel announced the matter would be taken up by the Standards committee which currently has no members assigned. Brother Kassel announced to the group that Balfour Leadership Workshop will again be hosted at the University of Missouri, July 31st thru August 2nd. The rumor mill has it that due to the success of Xi Xi's initiation ceremonies last year Sigma Chi HQ intends to initiate another colony this year. More details to follow at the June meeting. It was announced that Westminster initiated 10 new members on March 8th, President Kassel was in attendence. The chapter is also excited to recognize Phil Walters Xi Xi '59 for his selection into the Order of Constantine and John Walker Xi Xi '60 for his selection as a Significant Sig. "Acting" Treasurer Brother Klaus gave a update as to chapter finances; we currently have an account balance over $500 but that's due to the fact that Westminster hasn't cashed their check from last fiscal year. Speculation that they may have burned it for heat since their furnace recently bit the dust. Brother Klaus will continue to monitor the accounts. He also put forward the idea of purchasing bid cards for our supported Central Missouri chapters depending on how our balance looks at the end of the year. Brother Gale gave a Xi Xi update in regards to this past weekend where the men of Xi Xi hosted their mothers at the end of the year awards banquet. Over $20,000 worth of scholarships were given to Xi Xi members for high scholastic performance. The Honorable Congressman Ike Skelton gave the keynote address at a lovely evening at the Old Hawthorn Country Club in Columbia. The remander of the meal time discussion revolved around the lost "aura" of past president Klaus. Removed from the throne, Brother Klaus was almost at a loss for words. Almost. Some debate was also engaged in as to whether or not Brother McCanse was one of the original 12 disciples of Christ. The meeting adjourned without resolve of the issue. Again. Respectfully Submitted, Joe Hayes Recording Secretary
